Johanna Clyborne is a founding partner in the firm of Brekke, Clyborne & Ribich.  She focuses her practice in the areas of family law, criminal defense, civil litigation, and legal issues particular to the United States Armed Forces.  She is dedicated to helping her clients understand and navigate the complexities of the legal system while vigorously advocating for their rights.

During law school, Johanna developed her passion for client advocacy.  She clerked as a certified student attorney for the 10th Judicial District Public Defenders Office as well as in the University of Saint Thomas Interprofessional Center for Counseling and Legal Services’ Family Law clinic where she counseled clients and appeared in court on their behalf.  Her ability to speak Dutch and German won her a coveted clerkship with Murphy and Patterson, P.A., a boutique business law firm in Minnetonka. 

Johanna brings a varied and unique background to the practice of law.  Since 1989, Johanna has served as an officer in the United States Army helping her communities deal with riots, floods and other natural disasters.  Currently, Johanna is an active member in the Minnesota Army National Guard as an Engineer officer holding the rank of Major.  Additionally, Johanna worked as an Assistant Director for Recruiting for DeVry University and as a regional manager for the Hertz Corporation.

Being an active and contributing member in her community is important to Johanna.  Johanna is involved in the Girl Scouts of America and is serving as a Girl Scout troop leader.  She is active in the Minnesota Woman’s Lawyer Chapter and has served as a peer mentor and on the Peer Mentor Advisory Board for Saint Thomas.  Johanna lives in Minnetonka with her husband Duncan and their daughter.
